The impact test uses the energy difference before and after the pendulum of the impact tester impacts the sample to determine the toughness or brittleness of the sample. Impact test is a method of dynamic mechanical experiments, which are characterized by large impact force, short action time and fast change. According to the stress state of the sample, the impact test can be divided into three forms: bending impact test, tensile impact test, and torsional impact test.

There are two forms of bending impact test: one is the cantilever beam type, that is, clamping one section of the sample and impacting the other end, which is called the Ahnetic impact test; the other is the simple-supported beam type, that is, placing the sample horizontally on the two supports, and the impact force acts as the middle of the sample. The latter type of impact test is also called Xia's impact test. At present, most of my country's impact testing machines conduct Xia's impact tests.
