How to choose a lead screw for tensile testing machine?
Tension testerA lead screw is one of the important components of the machine itself. The quality of a lead screw directly affects the test results of the test machine. A good lead screw can reduce errors during the test process and greatly improve the accuracy of the machine itself testing. Currently, the screws used on the market include ball screws and trapezoidal screws. Ball screws are rolling friction based on balls, which are fast and have high accuracy, but are not suitable for heavy loads! Spiral screws are also called trapezoidal screws. They are sliding friction, low efficiency, low accuracy, but have good rigidity and are used for heavy loads. The meshing gap of the ball screw transmission pair can be adjusted arbitrarily to achieve a relatively ideal fit accuracy, which is particularly important for reducing the reversing error. However, it is difficult to adjust the fitting gap of ordinary threads. Let’s compare the ball ratio rod and trapezoidal screw of the tensile tester from the following aspects.
Transmission speed:
The ball screw is rolling friction, and the trapezoidal screw is sliding friction. When working, the temperature rise of the former is much lower than the latter, so it can undertake high-speed transmission tasks.
Transmission efficiency:
The transmission efficiency of the ball screw is approximately 26~46%. That is, if the same large load is driven, a ball screw can be used to use a smaller driving power, such as a smaller power tensile tester, which can not only reduce costs but also reduce energy consumption.
Self-locking:
Self-locking is generally inversely proportional to transmission efficiency. Therefore, the ball screw has almost no self-locking, while the trapezoidal screw has a certain self-locking property (depending on the size of the lead angle and the roughness of the working surface).
Economy:
Judging from the past and current situation, the ball screw is still more expensive than the trapezoidal screw because its structure is more complex than the trapezoidal screw. However, with the increase of automation equipment, the output increases, and the price difference becomes smaller and smaller
Service life:
The surface damage of rolling friction is much smaller than that of sliding friction, so when cleaning, lubrication and other conditions meet, the maintenance life of the ball screw is much higher than that of the trapezoidal screw.
