Description of the experimental process of the torsion test machine

If the torsional strength, torque, etc. of the material are only detected, the meter may not be changed. If you want to measure the shear modulus of the sample, you need to add a change meter.

There are great differences in the description of the altered destruction fractures between low carbon steel samples and cast iron samples. The cross-section of the low-carbon steel sample shown coincides with the cross-section. The cross-section is the shear stress effect surface and the fracture is relatively flush, which can be seen as shear damage; the cross-section of the cast iron sample is a spiral surface at an angle of 45o to the axis of the sample, and the section is the tensile stress effect surface. The fracture is relatively rough, so it is the tensile fracture damage formed by tensile stress.

a. It can be seen that the experimental curve of the change of low carbon steel specimens consists of the elastic stage (oa stage), the yielding stage (ab stage) and the strengthening stage (cd stage), but the yielding stage and the strengthening stage are not as clear as in the tensile experimental curve. Because the strengthening stage is very long, only the beginning stage and the end stage are drawn in the figure, and the change angle of the experimental segment during destruction can reach more than 10π.

b. The change curve of the cast iron sample shown can be approximately regarded as a straight line (similar to the stretch curve, without distinct straight line segments). The change deformation during the sample is much clearer than the deformation during the stretch and destruction.
