Application of material torsion testing machine in wire rope
In industrial production and manufacturing, wire ropes are widely used in various industries and are generally composed of high-strength steel wires. Some imported wire ropes also contain a plastic ferrule inside, which is usually specially treated in the form of a plastic coating to cover the core, and important wire ropes are filled with appropriate lubricant inside the rope to reduce friction.
Domestic steel wire ropes are generally divided into three types according to the rope core material: organic matter (hemp core and cotton core), asbestos core or metal core. There is usually no filler or lubricant inside the rope.
The wire rope can be divided into a line winding rope and a cross-winding rope according to the mutual direction of the wire winding rope, and is divided into left and right same direction twist and left and right inter-winding according to the twisting direction of the wire rope; imported wire rope generally uses inter-winding rope as the standard rope, which stipulates that the rotation direction of the wire rope is consistent with the rotation direction of the outer strand spiral line relative to the longitudinal axis of the wire rope, and is divided into left and right rotation. Correspondingly, the rotation direction of the strand is also specified, that is, the direction of the spiral line of the outer wire of the strand is the rotation direction of each strand based on the longitudinal axis of the strand. When used in a single wire rope, ordinary wire ropes rotate in the opposite direction. When used in pulley sets, the lifting wire rope will twist due to the rotation of the wire rope, commonly known as twisting. Compared with ordinary wire ropes, wire ropes that do not rotate have begun to be widely used. The so-called non-rotating wire rope is based on the principle that the torsional torque of the rope and the strand are opposite and equal in size: the imported non-rotating wire rope is different. The principle is to make the rotation direction of the rope core opposite to the rotation direction of the rope itself. When the force is applied, the torque generated by the rope core is equal to the torque generated by the strand and opposite in the direction.
The strands of the wire rope can also become tight strands through post-treatment methods such as rolling or die extrusion. After treatment, the diameter of the strands will be reduced, and the surface finish is very high. Therefore, thicker steel wires can be used with wire ropes using tight strands. Under the same diameter, the filling coefficient of wire ropes using tight strands is higher, and the breaking tension is greatly improved. When multiple layers of winding are performed on the reel, the outer strands of the common strands of the wire rope are severely squeezed between layers, and the surface of the wire rope wears faster. The tight-stranded wire rope has a high resistance to wear and squeeze.
The correct choice of wire rope directly affects the service life of the rope and causes structural deformation, breakage and unexpected failure of the rope. Therefore, the recommended selection principles are as follows:
1)When performing one guide-free weight lift or performing multiple guide-free weight lifts at a large height, use non-rotating wire rope;
2)When performing one guided weight lift or performing multiple guided weight lifts (such as driving) at a smaller height or using left-hand and right-hand ropes in pairs, ordinary wire ropes can be used.
