I) Professional terms:

One-way torsion: The sample is evenly rotated 360 degrees around its own axis in one direction as a twist to a specified number of times or the sample is broken

Bidirectional torsion: The sample is uniformly rotated by 360 degrees in one direction about its own axis. After one twist to a predetermined number of times, it rotates in the opposite direction the same number of times or the sample is broken.

2) Main uses:

The sample should be as straight as possible and should be straightened if necessary, but the surface should not be damaged or the specimen should not be distorted. In order to make the test piece straight during the experiment, a certain form of tensioning force should be applied, which shall not be greater than 2% of the corresponding force value of the nominal tensile strength of the test wire.
