GB/T229-2020 Metal Material Shabi Pendulum Impact Method and ASTME23

Standard impact test method for metal material notch specimens

Differences and issues to be noted in pendulum impact tests

Scope of application:

GB/T229-2020 is a method for determining the energy absorption of metal materials in Charpy impact test. It is suitable for the impact test of Chapy pendulum under room temperature, high temperature or low temperature conditions, but does not include instrumented impact test methods. See GB/T19748 for this part. For room temperature test, the ambient temperature requirement of GB/T 229-2020 is 23±5℃

The ASTM E23-18 standard specifies the method of impact test of metal material notch specimens conducted using the Charpy test (simplified supporting beam) and the Aishi test (cantilever beam). This test method is not suitable for impact tests with temperatures below -196 °C (77K). For room temperature test ASTME23-18, 20±5℃
