The difference between impact power and toughness of Hengsi impact tester

Impact testing machineWhen conducting steel tests, some properties are not clearly distinguished. Jinan Hengsi Shanda Instrument Co., Ltd. has explained this question in detail below.
For steelTesting machineWhen performing the notch impact test, the energy consumed by the pendulum impact on the sample is called impact work, which is represented by Ak, and is in Joule (J). When it is a V-shaped notch, it is AKV, and when it is a U-shaped notch, it is AKU.
The impact work consumed by the pendulum on the unit cross section of the sample during the impact test is called impact toughness (also known as impact value), and is represented by αk. That is: ak=Ak/F, and its unit is kJ/m2 or J/cm2.
Since the impact work is only absorbed by the volume involved in deformation near the sample notch, and this volume cannot be measured, and the deformation of each part on the same section is also inconsistent, the method of judging toughness by using the impact work αk per unit cross-sectional area has been gradually eliminated at home and abroad.
