Beijing Times News: Kweichow Moutai, which combines "Chinese organic products" and "OFDC organic certification", has always been known for brewing high-quality liquor. However, yesterday some media questioned that the raw materials for Kweichow Moutai are inferior to good, and "organic" are suspected of fraud and abuse of chemical pesticides. In response to this, Moutai issued a statement on its official website yesterday, but the content was vague and did not respond positively to media doubts.

Yesterday, media reported that the Moutai Group's planting base filled with the smell of chemical pesticides successfully passed the organic certification of Nanjing Guohuan, and turned into a "Moutai raw material organic ecological planting base". The glutinous sorghum and wheat produced by the base have also become "organic products". Moutai liquor and series of liquors brewed with this material have naturally become "green organic food."

Regarding the above questions, Kweichow Moutai issued an announcement yesterday, saying that Kweichow Moutai liquor uses sorghum and wheat as the main raw materials and is produced strictly in accordance with the organic processing system. The "Red Tassel" sorghum used by the company to make wine is a native variety in the Chishui River Basin, which is suitable for the process requirements of multiple rounds of steaming and fermentation of Moutai liquor. Currently, all sorghum used for brewing Maotai wine comes from organic sorghum bases built in Renhuai City and adjacent areas. Wheat mainly comes from Heilongjiang, Henan and other places, and all raw materials have passed organic certification. Moutai did not respond positively to the media's questions about the fraud of organic certification of wine brewing raw materials and whether pesticides are used for raw material planting.

Yesterday afternoon, a screenshot released by a media outlet from Nanjing Guohuan official website showed that the validity period of the organic certification of Kweichow Moutai Liquor Co., Ltd. is October 2, 2012. In other words, Moutai’s organic processing factory certification has expired. The reporter continued to enter the words "Kweichow Moutai" in the "Certificate Inquiry" column of Nanjing Guohuan official website at around 9 o'clock last night, but found nothing. However, when he checked again at around 9:20, the certification information obtained by Moutai-related liquor was suddenly displayed, and the validity period was October 2, 2013.
